FAQ

Pricing, deposits, licensing, storage, service area, and PCS scheduling — answered straight.

No queue, no ticket number — Renee reads this off the same screen she uses to book jobs, and it’s used strictly to price your Oxon Hill move, nothing else.

Straight answers to what Oxon Hill and DC Metro customers ask most before booking with Good Guys Movers.

How much does a move with Good Guys Movers cost?
Local moves run hourly at $119/hr for a 2-mover crew, $159/hr for 3, and $199/hr for 4. If you'd rather have a flat number, we price studios at $429, one-bedrooms at $849, two-bedrooms at $1,450, and three-bedroom-plus homes at $2,250. Long-distance and PCS moves get a binding written quote instead of an hourly rate.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a $125 deposit holds your date once you book. It comes straight off your final bill — it isn't an extra charge.
Are you licensed and insured?
Good Guys Movers is licensed and insured in Maryland, with interstate authority on file for long-distance and PCS moves crossing into Virginia and beyond.
Do you offer storage if my dates don't line up?
Yes. Short-term storage runs a flat $150 a month in our own space on Livingston Road, not a rented bay somewhere else.
How far out do you serve from Oxon Hill?
Our regular run covers Fort Washington, Temple Hills, Forest Heights, Suitland, Camp Springs, Clinton, District Heights, Hillcrest Heights, and Accokeek, plus Prince George's, Charles, and Anne Arundel Counties in Maryland and Fairfax and Arlington Counties in Virginia. See our full service area list if you're not sure your address is included.
Do you handle military PCS moves?
Regularly. Owner Derek Simmons spent eight years in the Army and moved his own household four times on orders, and with Joint Base Andrews close by, PCS shipments are a normal part of our long-distance calendar, not a special case. We plan around report-no-later-than dates as a matter of course.
What if I have a piano or another heavy item?
Piano and heavy-item moves are priced flat at $429, and the crew brings the right rigging so nothing gets dragged or dropped. Let us know what it is when you request your quote so we bring the right equipment the first time.
How do I get a quote?
Send your dates and a few details through our quote page, or call (888) 278-9005. Marcus will follow up with a written number, usually the same business day.
What Sets Us Apart

Why Oxon Hill Households Stick With Good Guys Movers

Registered In Maryland, Filed For Interstate Runs Too

Registered MD household-goods mover, with our own interstate authority filed for anything crossing state lines — whether it’s a two-hour job across town or a PCS haul south toward Fayetteville, the paperwork is settled before Oxon Hill ever sees the truck back down the street.

Coverage Explained Up Front, Not Buried In Fine Print

Every job carries standard released-value coverage, and Marcus walks you through the full-value upgrade when he quotes you, not after the truck is already loaded — Derek set that rule in 2014 and nobody’s talked him out of it since.

Eleven Employees Signing Off On Every Quote

Call on a weekday and Renee answers; call about a bigger job and Derek or Marcus looks over the number personally. Every mover who shows up at your door is a trained Good Guys Movers employee, never a rental for the day.

We Know Which Blocks Have Nowhere To Park

Permit-only streets, National Harbor event traffic, Beltway backups that eat an afternoon — Jamal’s been running these blocks since 2015, so none of that gets discovered on move day.

Talk To Derek Or Marcus Directly — No Dispatcher In Between

Whoever picks up already has your file in front of them; there’s no transferring you to someone else’s desk. Most quotes go out the same afternoon they come in.
